Visiting our website, enrolment and participation in one or more of Mel’s Dance Centrals classes is based on agreement to the following terms and conditions:
1. All items and work produced by Mel’s Dance Central (including choreography, original music edits, costumes, creative designs and concepts, props and sets) remain the property of Mel’s Dance Central and cannot be replicated or reproduced by any other party.
2. All dance teaching staff of Mel’s Dance Central are appropriately qualified and skilled in the delivery of dance tuition in which they partake and while Mel’s Dance Central will not be held responsible for any injuries which may occur to a student or students family member whilst on the premises or in a class at Mel’s Dance Central, they will seek medical attention and/or administer basic first aid for the students or family member immediately if needed.
3. In order to provide adequate dance training, it is necessary for dance teachers to physically coach in the development of student technique and placement, which may require strictly appropriate physical contact between dance teaching staff and students. It is also understood that any sort of development cannot occur without a formal and structured approach to all dance classes administered at Mel’s Dance Central. Dance is a form of discipline and this will be advocated throughout all dance classes at Mel’s Dance Central.
4. It is understood that an annual, non-refundable registration/insurance fee applies to all students at the commencement of their enrolment date. $32 for all students.
5. It is agreed that Term fees will be paid by the first class of each term or a late penalty fee of 10% will apply with an increase of 5% each week thereafter. Payments can be made via bank transfer or eftpos (2.2% surcharge). A payment plan/installments may be arranged (automatic direct debit only) between both Mel’s Dance Central and the paying family until entire total of fees owing is paid in full (please note, a 2.2% surcharge will incur for each automated direct debit payment). If a payment is declined for any unknown reason on one occasion, an invoice will be sent requesting upfront payment of the remainder of the term fees and the the payer will no longer have the privilege to undertake a direct debit payment plan with Mel's Dance Central.
6. "In the event where your overdue account is referred to a collection agency and/or law firm, you will be liable for all costs which would be incurred as if the debt is collected in full, including legal demand costs".
7. If a student is absent from class for more than three consecutive weeks, a refund of the classes missed may be arranged for only upfront full term fee paying students. Otherwise all fees must continue to be paid on a term or weekly (payment plan) basis, regardless of absence. It is expected that Mel’s Dance Central receives a courtesy phone call, text message or email if a student is going to be absent from class.
8. It is understood that there are NO REFUNDS on any payment of Term fees, enrolment fee, showcase/performance fee, costume hire, uniform payment for any reason, unless unforeseeable circumstances means that classes must cease for the Term at the direction of the Director or drastic personal circumstances have occurred. At any case, plenty of communication must occur between student, parent and teachers in these sorts of circumstances. If no communication has occurred then no refunds will be given. Costumes hire fees for all students are divided over the four terms. This payment must be paid each term, so that the total costume hire fee is paid in full. Students who undertake solo classes will incur further costume hire fees in addition to the original costume hire fee.
9. We are following the Victorian Government in regards to Covid-19 restrictions and mandates. This will stay in place until further announcement is made by the Victorian Government. If your child cannot participate in their classes at Mel’s Dance Central for any reasons related to Covid-19 and the rules made by the Victorian and Australian Government, no refunds will be given. If a student becomes unwell with or without known symptoms of Covid-19, the student must produce a negative Covid-19 test prior to returning to their classes at Mel’s Dance Central.
10. If there are any outstanding fees or administration fees from the following term, your child will not be allowed to participate in their classes until the account has been finalized. In Term 4, all accounts must be finalized by the last week of term. Failure to do so will result in your child not being able to perform in the end of year showcase. No refunds on any fees or tickets will be applied. If you decide you no longer wish to be part of Mel’s Dance Centrals end of year showcase, you must inform MDC by the final week of term 2. From Term 4, all fees including term, performance, costume hire and/or overdue fees must be finalized.
11. Enrolments for the following year cannot be processed from any current student with any outstanding accounts. The $32 registration/insurance fee will 100% secure your place at Mel’s Dance Central. This is non-refundable if your child leaves Mel’s Dance Central before the end of the year for any reason.
12. It is understood that those students who commit to participate in competitions and eisteddfods represent Mel’s Dance Central respectively. These may involve further costs such as; extra classes, rehearsals, choreographer fees and competition entry fees.
13. All students of Mel’s Dance Central are expected to perform in the annual end of year performance showcase production, unless otherwise agreed. By participating in the end of year showcase, you are giving consent for Mel’s Dance Central to use photographs and/or video footage of the dance student for promotional purposes e.g. social media, newspaper, website, flyers etc.
14. Please note, Mel’s Dance Central reserves the right to sell video footage of students who participate in the end of year performance and professional performance and/or group photos throughout the year. Original photographs/videos taken by staff are held securely by Mel’s Dance Central and used for business purposes only. Photography & Videography of students during dance class times, rehearsals, performances and events may occur and be used for promotional material and advertisements of that of the school. It is the responsibility of a students parent/guardian to notify the director/teacher of Mel's Dance Central otherwise.
15. All students of Mel’s Dance Central are required to wear full studio dance uniform to every class, rehearsal and performance. No casual wear will be accepted. We believe it is an important part of learning as it allows all students to feel a sense of belonging to a troupe, shows respect toward the dance school and encourages a sense of discipline. All students must have the appropriate dance shoes required of them for their class in which they are enrolled.
16. Students are to inform the Director or studio teacher/choreographer before entering in any
particular ‘workshops’ or competitions. If competition pieces/routines are undertaken with Mel’s Dance Central, these works can not be taken and submitted under any other name other than Mel’s Dance Central. It is completely up to the directors/teacher discretion when a piece/routine is ready for competition.
17. In Term 4, students are expected to attend ALL compulsory end of year showcase related rehearsals, this information is always handed out in a substantial amount of time prior to the end of year performance. Missing scheduled rehearsals and/or extra classes may result in the student not being placed or missing out on some of their routines at the performance.
18. It is important that all parents/guardians understand that they are responsible for remaining up to date with studio information of Mel’s Dance Central. There are numerous avenues provided to distribute information, including newsletters, emails, Facebook updates, Instagram posts and a detailed website.
19. Mel’s Dance Central cannot be held responsible for any property of the students which may become lost or damaged on the studio premises.
20. All students and parents are expected to behave in a respectable manner towards all staff members of Mel’s Dance Central both inside and out of the studio. Any kind of disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated and result in an immediate expulsion of the student, forfeiting any term or advance payment.
21. All students and parents must respect all decisions made by the Directors and staff of Mel’s Dance Central.
22. Social media posts directly related/or involving Mel’s Dance Central must be respectful and in line with the attitude, ethos and culture of Mel’s Dance Central. No one is to post choreography from any class of Mel’s Dance Central unless they have permission from the Director/staff of Mel’s Dance Central.
23. All students enrolled at Mel’s Dance Central are equal. Bullying in any form is NOT and will NOT be tolerated at Mel’s Dance Central and will result in immediate expulsion.
24. During the period of enrolment and participation at Mel’s Dance Central, it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to advise the Director/staff if personal circumstances and/or information change, including contact and emergency contact information, medical history etc.
25. Students are to be dropped off within the studio when attending class no more than 5 minutes prior and parents/guardians are to be available within the venue for pick up 5 minutes prior to class finish time. The occurrences that or should occur outside the studio with any student is the parent/guardians responsibility.
26. By submitting your registration/insurance fee and 2024 enrolment form, you are stating that you have read & clearly understand all terms & conditions of Mel’s Dance Central and agree to follow them.
27. We have adopted the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act). The NPPs govern the way in which we collect, use, disclose, store, secure and dispose of your Personal Information. A copy of the Australian Privacy Principles may be obtained from the website of The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.aoic.gov.au. Mel's Dance Central are committed to providing quality service where they are obligated to respect the personal information collected from you via our face-to-face consultations, enrolment forms, website (www.melsdancecentral.com.au), social media and third parties. We don’t guarantee website links or policy of authorised third parties. When we collect Personal Information we will, where appropriate and where possible, explain to you why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it. Your Personal Information may be disclosed in a number of circumstances including the following:
• Third parties where you consent to the use or disclosure; and
• Where required or authorised by law. Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.
28. Mel's Dance Centrals terms and conditions may be updated and/or changed without notification, please be sure to monitor these for updates and changes to the information stated above.

DanceFIT / BungeeFIT:
- By attending a BungeeFIT session at The Warehouse, Colac I warrant that I am medically able, do not have any current known illnesses, diseases, or injuries, and am in good health. I understand the risks in doing some activities, and there is no medical reason why I cannot do all activities with The Warehouse, Colac, Mel’s Dance Central & DanceFIT and acknowledge that I undertake all training and carry out all tasks at my own risk. I recognise that any training activity is potentially hazardous if not performed correctly with the correct technique as instructed by the teacher. I agree to inform The Warehouse, Colac, Mel’s Dance Central & DanceFIT before training if I have vertigo, travel sickness, migraines, headaches, glaucoma, had any recent surgery, including botox, injuries including neck/back/spinal, herniated discs, cardiac/heart related conditions, low or high blood pressure, experienced previous strokes, am on any medication or if pregnant.
- I permit The Warehouse, Colac, Mel’s Dance Central & DanceFIT to use any photos or videos of myself on their website, advertising material & social media.
- I have full understanding of the cancellation policy in regards to all BungeeFIT session bookings. Cancellations for a BungeeFIT booking must be done at least 24 hours prior to the session start time, where a re-schedule will take place. There are no refunds available. A re-schedule will not be granted for late cancellations or no shows. Please cancel and re-schedule bookings through The Warehouse, Colac via email (www.melsdancecentral.com.au).
- I have consulted my General Practitioner or Specialist prior to commencing any new fitness regime, including a DanceFIT and / or BungeeFIT session at The Warehouse, Colac.
