Mel's Dance Central - Child Safety Policy 2021
SCOPE/INTENTION: All adults (over the age of 18 years) whom are in some way involved with Mel’s Dance Central whom are in a position where they interact with children at any time must adhere to the child safety policy. All personnel involved with Mel’s Dance Central are to hold a current ‘Working with Children Check’. These personnel include, • Directors/Principal Teachers, Employees and Management • Administration • Production and Venue Personnel • Volunteers • Work Experience Students • Anyone whom may have any kind of interaction with children at Mel’s Dance Central Please note, a child is referred to anyone whom is under the age of 18 years.
OBLIGATION TO CHILD SAFETY: It is the responsibility of Mel’s Dance Central to provide the children whom are involved with the school with a safe environment. Every child should be a valued and respected member of Mel’s Dance Central and be protected from all kinds of abuse and harm. Mel’s Dance Central are committed to provide the wellbeing and safety of children as their main priority where they hold a zero tolerance to harm and abuse of children.
CODE OF CONDUCT: Those adult personnel involved with Mel’s Dance Central must abide with a code of conduct that outlines the expected behaviours when working with or around children. All personnel in this position must sign a code of conduct agreement, acknowledging their understanding and the expectations of them. A copy of the signed code of conduct agreements are retained.
COMPLAINTS AND REPORTING SYSTEM: It is important that everyone (teachers, parents/carers) involved with Mel’s Dance Central feel as though they are able to openly communicate any concerns or complaints they may have in regard to the welfare of the children of the school. It is of great importance that any issues or concerns that are raised are followed up immediately and appropriate action is taken to rectify any situations that may evolve.
RISK MANAGEMENT AND THE REVIEW PROCESS: In order to minimise and therefore prevent any such incidences from occurring, Mel’s Dance Central put in place measures which assist in reducing the risk of child harm in any circumstance. All processes are reviewed annually and any potential risks that may pose a problem to that of the safety and wellbeing of the children of the school are identified and rectified as they appear.
CHILD SAFETY REPRESENTATIVES: All representatives of Mel’s Dance Central are the personnel responsible to communicate with and provide support and guidance to whether it be the parents, employees or students etc of the school in regards to matters involving the safety and wellbeing of the children of the school. Any complaints, concerns or breaks in code of conduct must be forwarded directly to the child safety representatives whom will deal with and take control of the situation at hand. The representatives also monitor the effectiveness of the policy every 2 years, where they encourage feedback from anyone involved with the school, in order to maintain a policy that is current, appropriate and valid.
